Founding Engineer, Backend & Infrastructure

About the Role

Join an early-stage healthcare AI team as a founding backend engineer, owning the distributed systems behind clinical and financial workflows. You will turn complex healthcare data and AI capabilities into reliable production infrastructure, while helping establish engineering patterns for the team.

What You'll Do

• Build and scale backend systems for chart processing, claims, authorizations, denials, and payer and provider integrations.

• Develop browser and computer-use automation for navigating medical record software and payer portals.

• Design infrastructure for high-volume, varied healthcare data, including scanned charts, PDFs, claims, and unstructured notes.

• Create orchestration, queuing, retry, and observability systems for long-running workflows across healthcare platforms.

• Partner with research and product engineers to bring clinical intelligence capabilities into production.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of backend engineering experience focused on complex systems and infrastructure.

• Strong experience with Python, microservices, distributed systems, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration.

• Demonstrated ownership of backend systems from design through implementation, ideally in a technically demanding startup or similar environment.

• Experience building or operating LLMs or machine learning models in production.

• Background processing large or messy datasets, browser automation, or complex integrations is valuable.

• A degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, and authorization to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is $160,000 to $200,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
