Clinical Research Coordinator III - Neurology

Position Summary The WashU Medicine Center for Pediatric Neuromuscular Disorders provides quality care, state-of-the-art treatment, precision medicine, and research opportunities to pediatric and young adult patients diagnosed with neuromuscular disorders. Patients have access to leading-edge clinical trials focusing on personalized medicine to improve understanding, treatment, and prevention of neuromuscular diseases. As a Clinical Research Coordinator, you will work with a team of research coordinators and clinicians to execute clinical trial protocols for pediatric patients with neuromuscular disorders. You will participate in and lead clinical research study activities, including complex and multi-site trials. Specific duties may include screening, obtaining consent, enrolling participants, collecting, documenting, and reporting clinical research data, and may include staff training and supervisory tasks. Phlebotomy and blood lab processing experience is preferred but not required. Experience with children is preferred but not required; willingness to work with children is required. Primary Duties & Responsibilities May perform duties inclusive of those delegated to a Clinical Research Coordinator II. Develop case report forms, questionnaires, and apply research techniques. Review and approve billing matrix calendars for studies. Implement and manage all phases of the study/protocol lifecycle; ensure compliance with protocol guidelines, SOPs, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements; monitor participants’ progress; identify problems in study conduct/data and assist in corrective actions; liaise with funding or sponsoring agency. Provide guidance to research team members on implementation and evaluation of clinical research; train new staff; may serve as lead or point of reference for other coordinators regarding questions, scheduling, and performance feedback. Assist in ordering supplies for research projects and the research group. Act as primary liaison to the PI in developing plans for the clinical trials team; assist in amendments to protocols and regulatory tasks as appropriate. Monitor all phases of study/protocols; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; document and report adverse events; resolve IRB/protocol management issues and advise on corrective action; liaise with funding or sponsoring agency. Evaluate and interpret collected clinical data in collaboration with the PI. Perform phlebotomy and lab processing following appropriate training. Perform other duties incidental to the work described above. Working Conditions Job Location/Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Education, Certifications & Experience Education : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Certifications /Professional Licenses: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The list below may include all acceptable certifications; more than one credential may be required depending on the role. BLS – American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Work Experience : Clinical Research (3 years). Skills : Not Applicable. Driver's License : A driver’s license is not required for this position. Additional Qualifications BLS certification must be obtained within one month of hire date. Basic Life Support certification (online certifications without a skills assessment are not sufficient). Optional depending on department: SOCRA/ACRP certification. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Lead position experience (1 year). Salary & Benefits Grade : C11 Salary Range : $56,200.00 – $87,100.00 annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range are determined by qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade, and department budget.
