About the Role

The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide essential legal support to its campus and department administrators. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including supervising district contracting processes, providing guidance on student records requests, and advising on various legal issues. This role also involves offering legal counsel in the areas of special education, employment, and general legal matters. The Assistant General Counsel will be expected to maintain effective working relationships, design and facilitate legal training, and participate in the selection and supervision of department staff. Applicants must have a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an ABA-accredited law school, be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, and have a minimum of three years' of legal experience. Special knowledge and skills in legal terminology, and state, federal, and local laws related to public education are essential. The role requires the ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations, particularly in the context of a large organization, and to manage legal risks while balancing operational concerns. Experience in school law, employment law, public/government law, and contract law is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in legal research, writing, contract negotiations, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
