As ESC continues its next phase of growth, we are seeking a strategic, hands on Controller to build, strengthen, and lead our financial operations. This is more than a traditional accounting leadership position, we are looking for someone who has experienced rapid organizational growth firsthand and understands how to scale financial infrastructure alongside a growing business. The ideal candidate has helped lead a company through significant growth, understands how to transform financial processes from reactive to proactive, and enjoys building the systems, structure, and accountability that support long-term success. This individual will serve as a trusted business partner to the executive team while remaining willing to roll up their sleeves and actively solve day to ay operational challenges. The Controller will be responsible for the following essential job functions Oversee daily accounting operations, including month-end close, general ledger accuracy, and financial reporting. Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, job-costing reports, and cash flow projections. Manage budgeting and forecasting cycles while partnering with leadership on long-term financial planning. Provide financial insights that support operational strategy and executive decision-making. Oversee expense reporting, categorization, and internal financial controls. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and Washington State tax requirements. Design, document, and continuously improve accounting processes, internal controls, and standard operating procedures that support a growing organization. Lead the integration and optimization of financial and operational systems, including QuickBooks, RevealiQ, Monday.com, HubSpot, and job-costing software. Partner with division leaders on job costing, project forecasting, profitability analysis, and financial performance reviews. Support treasury functions, including cash flow management and the development of banking relationships. Build and lead the accounting function by establishing clear expectations, developing team members, and creating scalable financial processes. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions that improve consistency, accountability, and reporting across the organization. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership by providing thoughtful, data-driven financial recommendations. Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership. Candidates should have the following qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA or CMA strongly preferred). 710+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience. Demonstrated experience helping scale a growing organization, ideally supporting a company through substantial revenue growth (approximately $10M toward $75M+ or similar stages of expansion). Proven success building or transforming accounting departments, financial processes, and internal controls within a growing business. Experience creating and implementing standard operating procedures that improve efficiency, accountability, and consistency. Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and job costing. Experience within construction, specialty contracting, elevator services, building services, or other project-based industries strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience developing accounting teams while remaining comfortable performing hands-on accounting work when necessary. Strong financial and strategic acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights. Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office 365, and ERP/job-costing systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and explain financial concepts to non-financial leaders.
