Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring at least 3 years of ER experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center emergency department at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:00-6:30)
• Patient ratio of 4:1, with occasional flex to 5:1
• Every other weekend required
• Only Friday-Sunday weekend block schedule available; no weekday block scheduling
• No on-call requirements
• No floating outside of service line required
• Frequently required to staff the behavioral health ED POD
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC certification required
• CPI and NIHSS certifications preferred
• 3 years of ER experience required; candidates with 2-3 years may be considered if they have Level I trauma center experience and prior travel assignment experience
• Prior travel assignment experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must complete Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, blood product administration, central line care, interpretation of ABGs, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, and triage
• Experience with psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, and suicidal patients strongly preferred
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or candidate will be expected to shave

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of acute presentations including psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, cardiac, and trauma cases
• Navy blue scrubs required
• No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within the system as a traveler
