Electrician

Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings. The Journeyman Electrician will work independently, ensuring that all electrical work is performed according to safety standards, codes, and regulations. The role requires excellent troubleshooting abilities, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work with various electrical systems and components.

PRIMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, low voltage BAS systems, wiring, and equipment according to blueprints, codes, control drawings, and safety regulations. Troubleshoot electrical systems and identify issues, performing repairs and replacements as necessary. Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and building plans. Install, test, and maintain electrical components such as lighting, circuit breakers, low voltage BAS devices, and switches. Ensure that electrical installations comply with local, state, and national electrical codes. Perform inspections of electrical systems and identify areas for improvement or safety hazards. Work with a variety of hand and power tools, electrical testing equipment, and diagnostic tools. Install and maintain electrical panels, transformers, and wiring in industrial and commercial settings. Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices, subcontractors, and other junior electricians as needed. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and supervisors regarding project progress, challenges, and solutions. Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work area. Stay current on electrical codes, industry best practices, and new technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 4 years of experience as an electrician in commercial or industrial settings. Installation of BAS systems experience preferred. Experience with electrical systems in specialized industries such as industrial machinery, renewable energy, or automation. Familiarity with the use of advanced electrical diagnostic tools and software.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Journeyman Electrician license or certification. State driver’s license, auto insurance, auto registration, acceptable driving record.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

X Specific Programs and/or skills Demonstrated ability to use software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form. Ability to respond to questions person to person, small group, and public situations with customers and other employees of the organization.

WORKING AND/OR ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is exposed to typical office environment with visits to job sites, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions; and occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, work in elevated, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. Position requires frequent auto travel, including hazardous weather/temperature conditions and other inherent traffic hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear; frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms. Job requires daily use of computer keyboard and telephone. Requires constant alertness and considerable mental and visual concentration due to degree of difficulty, irregularity and variety. Attention to detail and accuracy critical. Must plan and lay out complex work. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
