Maintenance Technician

With little to no direct supervision, the Fleet Technician III is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Mobile Storage rental fleet equipment, including containers, ground level offices, office trailers, and/or modular buildings in a highly skilled, safe and professional manner. This position requires an employee to possess a high degree of independent judgment. This position may specialize in a specific skilled trade. The Fleet Technician III must be capable of effectively performing all duties of an Equipment Associate and a Fleet Technician I & II. Responsibilities Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Mobile Storage quality standards. Proficiency and expertise in HVAC, electric, plumbing, or welding diagnostics and repairs. Remove, repair and install floors, tiles, roofs, walls, framing, doors, leaks, caulking, windows, screens, painting, filters/dampers, replacing skin, trim, tagging of equipment, removal/install of UR decals and equipment numbers. Hook mobile office to power source; check tire pressure and lugs. Complete assignments on time and within budget; document on Work Order. Travel to customer sites to set office trailers and assist drivers when needed. As assigned supervise, train, and organize the work duties of other Equipment Associates and Fleet Technicians I & II. Complete equipment modifications in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and state and local building codes. Follow Mobile Storage and United Rentals 5S guidelines; meet cleanliness standards on each assignment; store tools, supplies and value‑added products in proper, secure place; keep yard organized and free of debris; advise supervisor of supply needs. Conduct inbound and outbound equipment inspections and processing; follow Rental Flow procedures. Operate forklift; show and exhibit fleet to customers when needed. Safely install and/or uninstall VAPs according to reservation requirements. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Trade skill training preferred or equivalent years of experience. Active applicable state class driver’s license. 5+ years experience in the construction industry and repairing and maintaining equipment and tools. Basic verbal and written skills. Advanced construction knowledge and background. Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and customer service skills. Demonstrated time‑management skills. Ability to utilize required information technology. Working knowledge of heavy equipment, tools, and manufacturers’ warranty process. Accurately record time and material used for proper work order completion. Ability to coach and mentor less experienced operations staff. Lift up to 45 pounds. This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
