Controller

A client of ours is seeking a skilled and driven Controller to oversee the financial operations across multiple facilities. This role will serve as a critical member of the leadership team, responsible for accurate financial reporting, internal controls, cost accounting, and compliance. The Controller will work closely with operations and executive management to provide timely, actionable financial insights that support business decision-making and operational excellence.

Responsibilities of Controller

• Prepare monthly internal financial statements and provide variance analysis
• Oversee cost accounting processes and collaborate with seven plant locations to drive performance improvements
• Lead external audit support including preparation of data and schedules for financial and income tax reporting
• Ensure compliance with Sales and Use Tax regulations
• Ensure accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation
• Monitor and enhance system controls and financial procedures
• Partner with management to deliver insightful financial analysis and respond to ad hoc reporting requests
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting policies, systems, and processes
• Coordinate annual budget development across all departments
• Manage multi-location, multi-division financial transactions and consolidation activities
• Work collaboratively with leadership to interpret and present financial performance insights

Skills/Qualifications of Controller

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing and/or public accounting
• Deep understanding of US GAAP and strong cost accounting knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to handle large, complex data sets and perform analysis across systems
• JD Edwards experience is a must
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Creative problem solver with strong leadership and time management skills
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
