This position has oversight of a specific area, and acts as a representative to the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This is the Lead position on assigned projects or performs engineering assignments of any complexity. Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecastsEstablish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecastsDevelop and review specifications, including design criteria Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontractingPerform and check electrical calculations such as short circuit, relay coordination, voltage drop, cable derating and cable pulling tension and design using both computer-aided (ETAP/SKM) and manual design techniquesPrepare electrical equipment specifications, data sheets and technical bid evaluations for equipment such as power transformers, medium and low voltage switchgear, medium voltage starters, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, large synchronous and induction motors, electrowinning rectifiers and power factor correction capacitorsProvide assistance to the Lead Engineer in the areas of schedule, estimate, material forecasting, progress reporting, meetings, and procurement activitiesPerform self-check of completed work and provide guidance to less experienced engineersWork with project/client/field, procurement, permit, and subcontract activitiesPerform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of difficult engineering complexityServe as Supervising Lead providing guidance/supervision to other leads and function as mentor to less experienced engineers including performance appraisal input and counseling Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines Other duties as assignedBasic Job RequirementsAccredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in Electrical Engineering and sixteen (16) years of work-related experienceAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerProfessional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materialsEffort-hour estimating and staff forecastingManaging and leading a large projectProject set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-outPractical field experienceIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programsOther Job RequirementsExperience with electrical calculations such as short circuit, relay coordination, voltage drop, cable derating and cable pulling tensionSolid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC)Experience with computer-aided (ETAP/SKM) and manual design techniquesExperience reviewing electrical equipment specifications, data sheets and technical bid evaluations for equipment such as power transformers, medium and low voltage switchgear, medium voltage starters, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, large synchronous and induction motors, electrowinning rectifiers and power factor correction capacitorsAbility to assist in the areas of schedule, estimate, material forecasting, progress reporting, meetings, and procurement activitiesWork with project/client/field, procurement, permit, and subcontract activitiesAbility to lead, coach and mentor junior engineersPreferred QualificationsFEL 1 through 3 experience in an EPC/EPCM environmentExperience with international office collaborationProfessional Engineering LicenseWe are an equal opportunity employer.
