Summary These positions are located in a USDA Forest Service Unit. Responsibilities may include retardant mixing, loading into aircraft, and all activities on the ramp, including aircraft movement and safety. Pay and Location Salary: $67,617 - $87,899 per year (GW 8). Location: Lakeview, OR. Remote job: No. Telework eligible: No. Occasional travel required. Duties Coordinates mobilization and demobilization activities related to wildland fire suppression. Evaluates, plans, and coordinates wildland fire and other daily operational situations to ensure adequate quantities of resources and machinery are dispatched to incidents. Implements and maintains mobilization plans, emergency disaster plans, dispatch policies and procedures. Coordinates air transportation of unit personnel, supplies and equipment. Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt. Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check. Successful completion of one‑year probationary period, unless previously served. All Federal employees required to have federal payments made by direct deposit. Must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check. Must be 18 years of age. This is a drug testing designated position. Secondary coverage: Prior wildland firefighting experience is required. Willing to live/work in remote locations (volatile/unpredictable). Applicable positions may require a valid state driver’s license, commercial driver’s license (CDL), and/or physical/medical examination. Qualifications Applicants must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements defined below. Specialized Experience Requirement for GW‑08: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GW‑07 level in the Federal service; or two full years of successfully completed graduate‑level education or master’s degree if coursework directly related to the work of the position; or combinations of graduate‑level education directly related to the position (in excess of 18 semester hours) and specialized experience. Education must be obtained in an accredited college or university. Examples of specialized experience may include prioritized distribution of aid, supplies, and equipment in simultaneous wildland fire incidents; maintaining and assisting in developing dispatching guides, staffing and action guides, mobilization plans, Haz‑Mat response/spill plans, fire management plans, directives, and/or reference materials; coordinating exchanges of information with other federal agencies as well as municipal and state fire and law enforcement agencies. Selective Placement Factors: Successfully completed the Primary NWCG Core Requirement of Expanded Dispatch Support Dispatcher (EDSD). Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) and Forest Service – Fire Program Management (FS‑FPM) qualifications must be met by the time of selection. Current IQCS Master Record or equivalent documentation must be submitted for qualification. Currency of NWCG qualifications is not required for selection; documentation is required for past qualification and ability to regain currency within one year of hiring.
