About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS Must-Have: ICU experience Strong critical thinking skills Effective communication skills Description: The unit has 6 beds. Patient ratios are mainly 2:1, with some 1:1 and 3:1 ratios. There is 1 Nurse Tech available for support. Equipment used includes Arctic Sun and Continuous EEG. The documentation system is Meditech. Scheduling requires 36 hours of work per week, with every other weekend. There is a floating policy that includes floating to the ICU overflow unit. Procedures performed on this unit include central line placements, arterial line placements, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and intubation. New GE ICU monitors are available, and there is an expanding service line and acuity. There is a newly approved ICU expansion that will double the unit's capacity. The unit is recognized for quality and staff engagement. Unit-specific policies and guidelines will be provided during education onboarding.
