Job Title: Assistant Coach, Cross Country, Track & Field City: Hammond Budgeted Salary $35,568 Duties and Responsibilities of an Assistant Coach, Cross Country, Track and Field Assist head coach in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the track and field/cross country programs Provide technical instruction in one or more areas (sprints, jumps, throws, pole vault or distance) Assist the head coach with recruiting, academic oversight, fundraising, social media and coordinating camps and coaching clinics Maintain knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations to ensure compliance Assist with game management Assist with Fitness Center coverage Serve as van driver transporting teams to and from away games Perform other duties as assigned This position offers a flexible work schedule but requires a strong on‑campus presence Benefits of an Assistant Coach, Cross Country, Track and Field Full benefits – medical, dental, vision, short‑term disability, retirement, life insurance and more Accrue 15 days’ vacation in the first year, then 22 days in the second year with rollover University contributes 10% to retirement after a 3‑year waiting period University contributions to Health Savings Account Chance to earn more through University Wellness Initiatives 10 paid holidays Employee wellness programs Paid parental leave after one year of service Tuition remission for you, your spouse and dependent children at any Purdue campus For more information on our excellent benefit package, please visit: Education of an Assistant Coach, Cross Country, Track and Field Bachelor’s degree Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, education, fitness or a related program is preferred Experience of an Assistant Coach, Cross Country, Track and Field Two years of track and field coaching experience required at the professional or college level Experience coaching specific event groups: sprints, hurdles, pole vault, jumping, throwing or distance Experience coaching sprints/hurdles is preferred Core Competencies of an Assistant Coach, Cross Country, Track and Field Strong team‑building/management skills Ability to work across academic and administrative departments in a cooperative manner Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to coordinate collaborative efforts Demonstrated experience in program development, management, and leadership Ability to interact with members of the public and media Ability to supervise temporary staff Understanding of student‑athletes’ commitment to academics Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. occasionally Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations to ensure compliance Valid driver’s license Must be able to use personal vehicle to drive on behalf of the university Must meet minimum driver qualifications as defined by the Use of Vehicles for University Business Policy Additional Information This position is dependent upon continued grant funding.
