Central Sterile Tech I

Job Summary

The Central Sterile Tech I is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and functionality. The role involves assembling instrument sets, sterilizing equipment, and distributing supplies to various clinical areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble baskets of instruments, basin sets, and equipment using appropriate checklists in preparation for sterilization.
• Assemble sets of supplies and instruments required for a variety of clinical procedures.
• Inspect instruments and supplies for cleanliness and operational functionality.
• Decontaminate, disinfect, and clean supplies, instruments, and equipment used in procedures.
• Distribute instruments, equipment, and supplies to designated locations within the facility.
• Monitor inventory levels of supplies, instruments, and equipment, ensuring adequate availability.
• Assess equipment for malfunctions and perform minor repairs as necessary.
• Report major repair needs to appropriate staff for resolution.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the reprocessing and maintenance of endoscopes according to high-level disinfection policies and manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain scope washers, washer adapters, and monitor detergent levels and disinfectant effectiveness.
• Communicate effectively regarding scope repairs, loaners, supplies, and quality improvement information while maintaining documentation of all actions.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) according to policy and maintain supplies for cleaning and reprocessing.
• Accurately record data in appropriate logs and ensure compliance with established guidelines.

Skills & Experience

Required Skills & Experience

• No prior experience required; however, if the position is at specific locations, nine months' experience as a sterile tech is required for candidates who have not graduated from a sterile processing school.
• Graduates from a sterile processing school do not require prior experience.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in sterile processing is preferred.

Education

• No formal education requirements, as long as other qualifications are met.

Certifications & Licensure

• No certifications or licensure required.

Work Schedule

Shifts available include 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
