Job Description
The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role works extensively with conveyors, gear boxes, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, pneumatic equipment, compressors, and general plant systems, using strong mechanical skills and complementary electrical abilities to support continuous production.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot factory packaging equipment, including systems that use PLCs, pneumatic controls, conveyors, scales, timed automation, and palletizers.
- Install, maintain, and repair plant machinery, production equipment, and physical structures throughout the facility.
- Diagnose failures in machinery and equipment, determine root causes, and perform effective repairs to restore operation.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Follow specifications, blueprints, manuals, schematic drawings, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when performing maintenance and repairs.
- Use common electrical test equipment to safely troubleshoot and verify electrical circuits and components.
- Maintain and repair conveyors, gear boxes, bearings, belts, and related mechanical components.
- Service and troubleshoot pneumatic equipment and compressors used in production and packaging processes.
- Inspect and maintain sensors, including photo and optical sensors, to ensure accurate detection and control in automated systems.
- Support general facility maintenance tasks as needed to keep the production environment safe, functional, and compliant.
- Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement.
- Accurately record maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage to support maintenance planning and equipment history.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial, plant, or production environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in maintenance, mechanics, and repair of production equipment.
- Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting conveyors, gear boxes, bearings, and belts.
- Experience with pneumatic equipment, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and document work performed.
- Experience using electrical test equipment to troubleshoot circuits and components.
- Basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with PLC-controlled equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings.
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
- Experience working with packaging and conveyance equipment in a factory setting.
- Capability to perform general facility maintenance in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with PLCs, including compact logic platforms, is a plus.
- Familiarity with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and their application in motor control.
- Experience working with photo sensors, optical sensors, and sensor eye systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and related control systems.
- Welding experience or skills are highly desirable.
- Exposure to machining, construction, or fabrication work is beneficial.
- Ability to work across multiple maintenance disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility systems.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
