Registered Nurse (RN) - LDRP & Level 1 Nursery UnitThis position requires night shifts from 1800 to 0600, totaling 24 hours per week. Weekend and holiday coverage is mandatory. Overtime is optional after 40 hours of work.Minimum QualificationsTwo years of nursing experience is required.Current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred.Minimum of an Associate's Degree (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse (RN) for the Family Birthing Center is responsible for independently assessing and evaluating the health status of labor and neonate patients. This includes utilizing both objective and subjective data to identify health care problems.Through the care planning process, the RN collaborates with patients, families, providers, and the healthcare team to establish realistic and measurable goals. Prioritizing needs through planning and implementing interventions, the RN educates and counsels patients to ensure optimal health outcomes.Maintaining safe and effective care throughout every patient's episode of care is essential, involving the establishment of standard procedures, stabilization of conditions, and prevention of serious complications in emergencies. Each intervention will be evaluated and documented to assess care outcomes and determine if further actions are necessary. The RN serves as a patient advocate at all times.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide direct patient care and monitor responses throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.Promote wellness for mothers during pregnancy and post-delivery through ongoing education.Educate mothers on infant care.Document all events and educational interactions in the patient medical record using electronic systems.Communicate patient conditions verbally and in writing to physicians and nursing supervisors.Assist fellow staff in skill maintenance and learning new procedures and equipment.Collaborate with nursery nurses in caring for mother-baby couples.Support physicians during procedures.Assist nursing management as requested.Provide assistance during emergencies in other nursing units as possible.Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for all patients in the unit.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands for this position include regular use of hands for handling and medical procedures, effective communication skills, and the ability to physically assist patients. Frequent standing and occasional walking or sitting are required. The position may also involve lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, and specific vision abilities, including close vision and peripheral vision, are essential for providing effective patient care.Additional InformationHoliday coverage is required for this position.
