The Role We are looking for a family law attorney with at least 3 years of experience to join our Illinois team. Depending on your experience level and track record, this position can be structured as an Associate or Partner role. You will manage your own caseload from day one with the backing of an experienced team, dedicated support staff, and a marketing engine that keeps quality cases coming in the door. This position is based full-time at our downtown Chicago headquarters at 440 W Randolph, in the heart of the West Loop. What You Will Do Represent clients in divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, parenting time, child support, maintenance, and property division matters Handle cases from initial consultation through settlement or trial, including complex and high-net-worth divorce litigation Appear regularly in Cook County and the collar counties for hearings, pretrials, and trials Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, marital settlement agreements, parenting plans, and prenuptial agreements Negotiate directly with opposing counsel and participate in mediation and settlement conferences Collaborate with our attorneys, in-house divorce coach, and network of financial professionals to deliver the best outcome for every client What We Are Looking For Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Licensed to practice in Illinois and in good standing 3+ years of family law experience, with meaningful courtroom time Strong drafting, negotiation, and client communication skills The judgment to know when to settle and the confidence to try a case when settlement is not in the client's best interest Genuine compassion for clients going through the hardest chapter of their lives A desire for a primarily in-person work model, working alongside your team every day For candidates seeking a Partner role: a demonstrated record of case results, leadership, and business development Why Merel Family Law Associate or Partner title commensurate with your experience Competitive compensation and benefits An established client pipeline supported by an award‑winning marketing program, so you can focus on practicing law Mentorship from attorneys recognized among the best in Illinois family law, including the author of The Illinois Practice of Family Law A collaborative culture that takes the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously Beautiful offices, including our downtown Chicago headquarters at 440 W Randolph How to Apply Apply through LinkedIn with your resume.
