Job Summary Job Type: Full-Time | Location: Childress, TX | Department: Operations | Reporting to: Electrical & Systems Lead | Work Location Type: #onsite IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN's platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable‑rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever‑evolving applications of high‑performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in. The Electrical & Systems Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems that support high‑performance computing (HPC) environments with advanced liquid‑to‑chip cooling technology. This role requires expertise in electrical distribution systems, backup power infrastructure, and the integration of cooling technologies unique to HPC facilities. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, safety‑driven, and experienced in maintaining mission‑critical environments. We have grown substantially since 2019, from our inception in Australia to now having several facilities across North America and being listed on NASDAQ… and we are just getting started! By joining us, you will be contributing to the future of sustainable high‑performance compute and the local communities we strive to have a positive impact on. Job Requirements Strong understanding of electrical schematics, one‑lines, and control wiring diagrams. Proficiency with test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, infrared cameras). Ability to work safely around energized electrical equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, electro‑mechanical, and generator systems. Effective communication and collaboration across multi‑disciplinary teams. 5+ years as an industrial/commercial electrician, preferably in data center, HPC, or mission‑critical environments. Experience with liquid cooling technologies (CDUs, manifolds, dielectric or water‑based cooling) strongly preferred. Knowledge of UPS systems, switch gear, generators, and backup power systems required. Other Important Requirements Pre‑employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies. Support specialized electrical integration of liquid‑to‑chip cooling systems, including pump power, flow sensors, heat exchangers, and control circuits. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and control issues related to HPC racks, cooling distribution units (CDUs), and facility power systems. Operate, maintain, and test standby generators to ensure reliable emergency power availability; perform load testing, fuel system inspections, and automatic transfer switch (ATS) functionality checks. Conduct routine inspections, electrical testing, and infrared thermography to identify potential failures before downtime occurs. Ensure proper electrical load balancing and monitoring across HPC clusters, cooling infrastructure, and backup power systems. Work closely with mechanical, controls, and IT teams to coordinate electrical support for liquid cooling and power infrastructure. Maintain compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and facility‑specific safety requirements. Document maintenance activities, system readings, and repair actions in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to emergency electrical/cooling/power issues as required. Compensation Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and market data for the region.
