Must-Have: Experience in a Comprehensive Stroke Center
Must pass Relias EKG exam. Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required.
Description: Position in Neuro ICU requires handling patients with various neurodiagnoses. Common patient diagnoses include ischemic strokes, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, and hemorrhagic strokes. Management of ICP monitoring and neurotrauma cases will be expected. Experience with vasoactive medications and central line/arterial line management is required. Candidates will need to manage hypothermia/hyperthermia treatment and adhere to spinal precautions. Familiarity with special equipment such as external ventricular drains and bolts is essential. The role involves the administration of continuous IV sedation and care of ventilated patients. Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and manage dysrhythmias is necessary. Applicants should have experience in post-neurosurgery management and procedural sedation monitoring. The ideal candidate will complete a total of 10 hours of stroke education. A total of 40 orientation hours will be provided. Candidates will work alongside an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Patient ratios are set at 1:2. Candidates must be flexible to float within service lines or other ICUs as needed.
