Mobile Diesel Mechanic II $2,500 New Hire Bonus

Location: United States, Washington, Tacoma. Shift: Monday to Friday – Day shift. Mobile Diesel Technician Level II Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is the leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust and repair truck equipment, using handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Identify problems and use judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives. Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients to assess needs and resolve problems. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the proprietary TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain high productivity and meet Standard Repair Times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for approvals, estimates, and repair findings. Perform work in compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Requirements High school diploma/GED and at least three years of experience in a related field (or equivalent education/experience). Possess and supply the hand tools necessary for the duties. Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months until expiration (or will submit DOT medical card in lieu of DOT physical). Must pass DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. Minimum age 21 years old. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; must obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Required Certification ASE T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months of hire. Preferred Certifications ASE T3 (Drivetrain) ASE T4 (Brakes) ASE T5 (Suspension) ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) ASE T7 (HVAC) ASE 608/609 Skills & Abilities Understanding the implications of new information for current and future problem‑solving and decision-making. Compensation Hourly pay range: $32.07 – $48.13 per hour, depending on location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission and incentive programs.
