Middle School Counselor

Poynette Middle School is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and professional Middle School Counselor to join our student services team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional collaboration, professionalism, and empathy while supporting the academic, social-emotional, and career development of our students. Counselor seaking a paid internship are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual counseling and group counseling to meet students' personal, academic, and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with students, families, teachers, other student services team members, and administrators to ensure each student is on track for career and/or college readiness.
• Develop and implement programs to support students' academic planning, goal-setting, and personal development.
• Serve as a resource and advocate for students, fostering and supporting and positive school culture that includes student voice
• Provide crisis intervention and support as needed, ensuring student safety and well-being.
• Participate in professional development and stay current on best practices in school counseling.
• Utilize the Second Step curriculum to cultivate a positive school climate, proactively teaching conflict resolution and decision-making skills to middle school students.
