MS SQL Database Administrator
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 6 Months CTH
This is a W2 position that requires candidates to be onsite for 3 days in a week (Hybrid role).
Job description:
- Architects advanced, strategic DBMS solutions, supports development and/or production of large scale, complex distributed, midrange, and/or mainframe environments, develops and manages execution of DB implementation/upgrade
- Evaluates tools and performs database performance monitoring, analysis and recommendations
- Defines database standards, policies and procedures
- Strong ability to perform data modeling and define data entities and attributes of large scale, complex business application data
- Maintains strong data governance discipline. Highly effective at facilitation of data requirements sessions for complex applications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in use of data modeling tools and operational/data warehouse design concepts
Requirement:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience as MS SQL Database Administrator.
- Proficiency in installing and configuring complex database management system environments, creating and maintaining databases as well as backup and recovery.
- Demonstrated ability to implement automated process to improve database system reliability.
- Skill at troubleshooting complex problems.
- Background in IT infrastructure, including systems or network administration.
- Proficient knowledge of programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, SQL,.NET, Perl and TSQL.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including Agile development methodology.
- Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals.
- Hands on experience on database high availability solutions like log-shipping, database mirroring, replication, clustering and AlwaysON.
- Using PerfMon/Profiler solved low-level SQL Server bottlenecks like deadlocks/long running queries.
- Proficiency with PowerShell/Python scripting skills.
- Experience in upgrading SQL Server software to new versions and applying service packs and hot fixes.
- Proficient or willing to learn cloud database (e.g. Azure, AWS).
- Certified in Microsoft SQL certification is a plus.
