Unit Information

Location: San Antonio, TX

• CVICU: 34 beds
• NCCU: 33 beds
• LRICU (ECMO): 14 beds
• MICU: 12 beds
• MSICU: 13 beds
• 2South ICU: 15 beds
• Adult ED: Approximately 50 beds
• Numerous other floors: Over 300 beds

Number of Staff: 14-16 per shift

Staff Composition

Day Shift:

• 1 Supervisor/TL
• 1 ED Staff
• 2 CVICU Staff
• 2 NCCU Staff
• 2 LRICU Staff
• 1 MICU Staff
• 1 MSICU Staff
• 1 2South ICU Staff
• 3-5 Additional Floor Staff

Night Shift: Similar staffing as day shift.

Patient Care and Equipment

Average Patient Ratios: 30-45 units of therapy per shift

Hiring Profile

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of ICU experience.

Procedures Performed

Typical procedures include:

• Nebulizer therapy
• Airway clearance
• BiPAP
• Ventilator management
• High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Bronchial assistance
• Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis

Required Certifications

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Floating Requirements

There may be opportunities to float to pediatrics on a voluntary basis.

Dress Code

Scrub Color/Attire: Olive/Sage scrub top with black scrub bottoms. All-black scrubs are also acceptable.

Weekend and On-Call Requirements

Candidates are expected to work at least four weekend shifts within a four-week schedule. These do not need to occur on consecutive Saturdays or Sundays.
