IT Assistant

**Location Requirement:** Applicants must currently reside in the **Philippines, Chile, Argentina, or Uruguay** to be considered for this position.

We are seeking an experienced and resourceful IT Assistant to provide a mix of service-desk support and hands-on systems administration.

You will take ownership of day-to-day support tickets, onboarding and offboarding, user access, device administration, IT documentation, subscription tracking, office-security technology, and smaller systems projects.

This role is ideal for someone who sees a problem, investigates it, and recommends a practical solution rather than waiting for step-by-step direction.

The engagement is expected to begin at 24 hours per week, Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The role is expected to expand to a 40-hour Monday–Friday schedule after the initial ramp-up. Regular evening and weekend work is not expected.

**What you’ll do**

* Monitor and manage the service-desk queue, resolve routine requests, communicate status, and escalate issues appropriately.
* Manage onboarding, role changes, and offboarding across Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra, Google Workspace, and other business applications.
* Immediately escalate urgent offboarding requests to the IT Consultant.
* Administer an environment consisting of approximately 90% Mac and 10% Windows devices.
* Manage Mac devices through Mosyle, including enrollment, configuration, policy deployment, updates, troubleshooting, and inventory.
* Administer Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Entra, Google Workspace, email, identity, access, multifactor authentication, single sign-on, and related security settings.
* Create clear SharePoint IT guides, user documentation, administrative procedures, and troubleshooting instructions.
* Support smaller technology projects and implementations, including learning-management systems and ADP.
* Build and maintain a reliable process for tracking software subscriptions, owners, costs, renewal dates, notice periods, and follow-up actions.
* Support CPI office-security and video systems, including keypad PIN setup and proactive issue monitoring.
* Use PowerShell and approved AI tools to create, review, test, document, and safely execute administrative scripts.
* Identify recurring issues and recommend secure and efficient process or automation improvements.

**What we’re looking for**

* 5-10 years of relevant systems-administration, service-desk, or end-user IT-support experience.
* Hands-on experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft administration, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Entra, email, access, and security.
* Experience managing macOS devices through Mosyle or a comparable platform such as Kandji, Jamf, or Intune.
* A practical understanding of PowerShell and the ability to ask the right questions when using AI to develop or troubleshoot scripts.
* Strong written documentation, organization, troubleshooting, and English communication skills.
* A proactive, solution-oriented working style.
* The judgment to operate independently while escalating higher-risk issues.
* A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.

**Compensation and Engagement**

* This opportunity is for individual freelancers; agencies should not apply.
* Independent contractor engagement.
* Compensation of $15–$22 USD per hour, depending on directly relevant experience and technical proficiency.
* Hours will be tracked through Hubstaff.
* Payments will be issued through Payoneer.
* Availability from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time is required.
