Associate Management Auditor

Job Description and Duties

The Cerritos Technical Assistance and Review Unit is looking for someone who has strong skills in independently conducting operational, compliance, and/or performance audits. This position will leverage your skills to independently perform a full range of the more difficult and complex work of the unit to assess, evaluate, gather information and conduct oral interviews and reconcile information in clear, accurate and complete reports for entities that receive funds from CalRecycle, or other State or local entities and are subject to audit under the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act (Act) in accordance with general audit standards and the Department’s established audit procedures.

To be successful in this position you will need to work cohesively with a team, the business entity, have strong communication and writing skills, as well as tact and professionalism. The classification for this position is Associate Management Auditor. Travel is required throughout California and will include overnight travel. This position may require up to 50% travel annually. The AMA will be required to maintain a valid California driver's license.

As of July 1st, 2026, the position is office-centered, and employees will be expected to report to the office at least four days per week. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

Working Conditions

The incumbent may work in a high-rise office building in an enclosed, non-windowed office cubicle in a smoke-free environment. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday or an agreed upon alternative work schedule. Mandatory overtime, including evening and weekend work, may be necessary during the year when the department is mission tasked. Travel may be required locally and within the state.

• Ability to independently plan, organize and conduct complex, technical compliance reviews.
• Ability to write clear and concise reports, analyses, and correspondences.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, and other office productivity software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share Point, Adobe Acrobat, web conferencing software (e.g., GoToMeeting, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
