Lead Extruder Operator - Night Shift

divh2Lead Extrusion Operator/h2pThe Lead Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion machines to produce high-quality products according to specifications. This role ensures consistent production output, monitors equipment performance, and performs quality checks throughout the shift./ph3Essential Functions:/h3ulliAssign tasks to assistant operators to ensure workflow efficiency/liliProvide guidance and training to new assistant operators/liliAct as the first point of escalation for technical, process and safety issues/liliTrack productivity for the team/liliMonitor blending of materials/liliFill in for Shift Supervisor as needed/li/ulh3Machine Setup Operation/h3ulliSet up extrusion lines according to production orders and specifications/liliOperate extrusion machines safely and efficiently/liliAdjust machine settings to maintain product quality and minimize waste/li/ulh3Quality Control/h3ulliMonitor product dimensions, appearance, and physical properties/liliPerform regular quality checks and document results/liliIdentify and correct defects or inconsistencies in the product/li/ulh3Maintenance Troubleshooting/h3ulliPerform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment/liliTroubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues/liliReport major equipment malfunctions to maintenance team/li/ulh3Documentation Reporting/h3ulliMaintain accurate production records, including material usage and downtime/liliComplete shift reports and communicate with incoming/outgoing operators/li/ulh3Safety Compliance/h3ulliFollow all safety protocols and wear required PPE/liliEnsure compliance with company policies and industry regulations/liliCoach assistant operators and other employees on working safely at all times/li/ulh3Required Qualifications and Education:/h3ulliHigh School diploma or GED/lili2+ years operating an extruder, ideally sheet and/or film extrusion operations/liliMust be able to read, write and speak in English to follow work order instructions, record process data and communicate with all levels from operators to management/liliPrevious experience in a manufacturing environment/liliBasic math skills to calculate and enter roll data on appropriate forms, material weight, read work instructions, monitors, etc./liliMust be able to work and lead in a team environment/liliMust be able to learn troubleshooting machines, operation of controls, etc./liliSufficient visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and visually inspect rolls produced for defects/liliPossess good mechanical aptitude and safety awareness/attitude/liliMust follow safety protocols, procedures, and wear PPE as required and lead by example throughout the department/li/ulh3Physical Requirements/h3ulliAbility to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)/liliFrequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to operate and maintain extrusion equipment/liliMust be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis/liliPerform repetitive hand and arm movements for machine adjustments and material handling/liliGood visual acuity and manual dexterity for reading gauges, monitoring controls, and inspecting product quality/liliComfortable working in a factory environment with heat, noise, and moving machinery/liliAbility to wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear/liliMust be able to climb stairs or ladders and work at various heights as needed/liliTolerance for standing and performing tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing setting/li/ulpThis position will start as a day shift role and eventually transition to nights: 5PM-5:15AM Monday-Wednesday or Monday-Thursday./ppCompensation Information: $25-$30 + shift differential for nights/ppITW is an equal opportunity employer.
