The Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story hotel, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, and connected directly to the Broward County Convention. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel has over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views.
JOB PURPOSE: The Bartender is responsible for providing efficient, friendly, and professional guest service while maintaining a clean, organized, and high-quality bar at Reef 76 Kitchen & Bar-a bold and vibrant dining destination that celebrates the flavors of the Sunshine State with Caribbean flair and cultural influences.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* To follow, enforce, comply, and adhere to all Omni rules, policies, procedures, standards and recipes at all times.
* To properly set-up and maintain a clean efficient bar throughout the shift.
* Greet guests when entering the restaurant with a pleasant smile and superior customer service.
* Take orders and answer questions/offer suggestions on both food and beverage menu selections, and daily specials.
* Mix drinks for servers according to standard recipes.
* Familiarity with the wine list and the stemware and appropriate garnishes used.
* Follow procedures as outlined in employee manual and bartender's manual. Jigger pour, making drinks for servers only when rung in on Micros.
* Ensure the consistency in the presentation and recipes of all cocktails.
* Be familiar with and enforce all policies related to liquor liability laws.
* Record transaction in MICROS system at time of order, and adhere to cash handling standards.
* Be familiar with all property amenities and other restaurants.
* Present accurate check to guest and process payment.
* Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day.
* Polish and clean the water glasses in his/her assigned station before opening hours.
* Station set-up and breakdown/side-work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum 1-year bartending experience.
* Developed knowledge of wine, spirits, and beer with experience selling and presenting wines.
* Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers
* Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into MICROS.
* Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
* Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department.
* Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up on guest requests and needs in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent customer service, service recovery and problem-solving skills.
* Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
ENVIRONMENT & POSITION ANALYSIS:
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance.
* Position requires frequent bending, reaching overhead, twisting, and consistent use of hands and arms.
* Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift in indoor/outdoor environments.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
* Micros terminal, printer, food and beverage items, bar tools.
