Travel Nursing Job Details Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Stepdown, and Acute Care Nursing Location: Cincinnati, Ohio Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010 Start Date: October 19, 2026 Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027 Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts Hours: 36 hours per week Call: No call required Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients Unit Profile: 20-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult and geriatric patients Local Candidates: Not accepted PCU Travel RN Job Requirements Minimum of 2 years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience, including acute-care hospital experience Progressive care, stepdown, critical care, or comparable high-acuity nursing experience Current Registered Nurse license valid in Ohio or through a compact licensure arrangement Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination is required Experience with post-cardiac catheterization care is strongly preferred Travel nursing experience is preferred but not required Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and collaboration skills Ability to safely care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, invasive lines, chest tubes, and advanced respiratory modalities PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments of Progressive Care Unit patients and identify priority clinical needs Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized plans of care using the nursing process Monitor patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, and multisystem conditions and respond promptly to changes in condition Provide post-cardiac catheterization care, including management of TR bands and groin sites Administer medications and manage ordered cardiac infusions, which may include amiodarone, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, furosemide, milrinone, and heparin Perform and interpret ongoing cardiac rhythm surveillance and escalate dysrhythmias or other significant findings appropriately Care for patients with central lines, Foley catheters, chest tubes, and other specialized drains or devices Assess and manage patients receiving high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and other advanced respiratory support Conduct hemodynamic monitoring and support patients requiring temporary or transvenous pacing Administer conscious sedation medications as permitted by policy, training, and scope of practice Coordinate care with providers, patient care technicians, families, and the interdisciplinary team Educate patients and families while promoting safety, privacy, dignity, and informed participation in care Document care accurately in the electronic health record and participate in quality improvement initiatives Apply now for this Progressive Care Unit travel nursing opportunity in Cincinnati, Ohio, and join a team dedicated to high-quality patient care.
