Obstetric Emergency Department Nurse

A minimum of 3 years of labor and delivery experience is required, although first-time travelers are accepted with the same experience threshold, provided it was not in a teaching facility.

This role involves working with a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to adults.

Certifications required:

• BLS
• ACLS
• AWHONN Intermediate
• NRP

The Obstetric ED nurse must be capable of performing vaginal examinations autonomously. Relevant experience in circulating and triage is necessary. Additionally, there are strict attendance protocols allowing a maximum of 3 call-outs within a 13-week period.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, with a unit comprising 6 rooms and an average daily census of 15 patients.

Familiarity with the following systems is required:

• Epic
• Pyxis
• SBAR

Scrubs will be provided by the facility.

A maximum of 7 days of requested time off is permitted.

Every other weekend is mandatory unless otherwise specified.

Nurses may float within the service line to Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, and Operating Room as needed.

One 12-hour shift of call is expected per schedule.

If one major holiday occurs during the assignment period, the traveler will be required to work. For two major holidays, both must be worked, and for three, two holiday shifts are required. Major holidays include:

• New Year's Eve and Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving/Black Friday
• Christmas Eve and Day

Full compliance with requirements is necessary to start on time. Non-compliance could result in a two-week pushback due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.

Candidates will undergo a clinical review to determine fit, and if they pass the clinical screen and meet requirements, they will be sent to management for final decision.

Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers.
