A day in the shop
Join our client in Danbury as the hands-on expert who keeps a small thermal processing operation moving. You will split your day between shop fabrication and shipping and receiving, working with metallic and ceramic-based materials to build high-temperature application heating components and complete furnace systems.
What you will handle- Operate metalworking equipment and power tools to cut, form, and assemble parts.
- Use quality measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Own shipping and receiving: product packaging, skidding, material handling, and tendering shipping paperwork.
- Operate a forklift and support lifts using slings and other lifting apparatuses.
- Keep the shop organized and safe while performing routine, low-level preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Apply practical shop math every day, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversions, geometry, and algebra.
- Auto mechanic, welding, or fabrication experience is preferred but not required.
- Proficient in mechanical troubleshooting.
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification.
- Material handler experience.
- Forklift licensed.
- Perform physical labor up to a maximum of 90% of annual labor hours.
- Be on your feet and moving within the shop for an eight hour shift with designated breaks.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work safely around power producing equipment and refractory materials.
- Travel to customer facilities as needed and work in confined spaces with elevated temperatures while maintaining a professional, safety-first mindset.
