They are doing it openly and at enormous scale, and admit they do not know how to control what they are building. Most Americans have not yet had the chance to understand what the deployment of these systems means for their jobs, their families, and their future, let alone been given a say. Evitable was founded by David Krueger, one of the earliest and most credible voices on the risks of advanced AI. A professor of computer science who has spent over a decade at the forefront of the field, David initiated the landmark Statement on AI Risk, the single sentence signed by the field's leading scientists that put extinction-level concern on the global agenda. He co-authored the paper that introduced the concept of "gradual disempowerment", and served as a founding research director at the UK's AI Security Institute, which he left to do what he believed mattered most and was missing: taking the warning directly to the public. The risks posed by AI are immense and range from mass unemployment to mass surveillance, and even human extinction. But none of this is inevitable. Building ever more powerful AI depends on trillions of dollars of investments, a concentrated supply chain, and the cooperation of governments. That makes it a choice, a deliberate project that can be stopped. The public has a right to know what is being built, and a right to decide whether it should be built at all. Evitable exists to secure an immediate, indefinite, international moratorium on advanced AI development. We do that by informing the public and building a broad, nonviolent movement behind it. About the Role Evitable's founder has spent years convincing experts to take AI risk seriously. Evitable’s role is to bring this work to a broader audience: sounding the alarm, loudly and publicly, with our communications work. This is a role for someone passionate about what it means to communicate AI risk to a mass audience across platforms, not just educating people but knowing how to activate them. As Communications Manager, you will own Evitable’s day-to-day content and digital presence. You’ll work closely with the Communications Director to bring Evitable’s marketing strategy to life and build meaningful audience growth. You will be the one setting the pace for how fast and far Evitable’s message will travel. What You’ll Own Run the social media calendar and maintain a dependable publishing cadence across all of Evitable's channels. Write posts in the appropriate style for each channel, across short form and long form media. Engage with Evitable’s digital audience and strategic partners across platforms. Repurpose David's media appearances, interviews, and op-eds into clips, posts, and simple graphics, tailored for optimal performance on each channel. Develop and send the monthly newsletter and optimize for increased engagement. Manage Evitable’s CRM and email campaigns. Maximize Evitable’s SEO and digital advertising presence, with an insight into media monitoring and analytics. Write copy for Evitable’s website, movement building resources, and media we produce. Identify rapidly developing opportunities for Evitable to respond and engage appropriately What We’re Looking For A track record of audience engagement and growth across various social media channels, SEO, digital advertising and newsletters. Media monitoring and analytics Strong and clear writing skills that can turn complex concepts into something easy to understand, aesthetically pleasing and memorable. Familiarity with graphic design, image and video editing Familiarity with audience management techniques and software Alignment with Evitable's mission Adherence to rigorous standards of messaging and accuracy Comfort operating in early-stage environments Self-directed and proactive Preferred Experience in advocacy, campaigns, movements or political communications. Familiarity with AI risk or critical tech policy Compensation and Benefits $85,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
