Industrial Maintenance Technician

Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex industrial equipment to support continuous production. You will work autonomously and as part of a cross-functional team to diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, perform advanced repairs, and install or modify equipment and supporting utilities. The position requires a strong hands-on skill set, excellent problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safety and preventive maintenance in a demanding industrial environment.
Responsibilities

• Work closely with maintenance, tool room, quality, automation specialists, engineers, vendors, and suppliers to resolve equipment issues and maintain production flow.
• Diagnose and repair highly complex electrical and mechanical equipment with minimal supervision, clearly describing symptoms to vendors and implementing recommended repairs.
• Collaborate with supervisors and leads to return faulted equipment to service as quickly as possible, including coordinating vendor support and additional technical resources.
• Connect to PLC processors, interpret ladder logic, and interrupt programs as needed to isolate, diagnose, and correct machine faults.
• Perform all operations necessary to repair machinery and equipment, including arc or gas welding, brazing, soldering, drilling, tapping, and other fabrication tasks.
• Replace mechanical components such as bearings, shafts, gears, pins, and keys, ensuring proper fit and function.
• Operate machine shop equipment to perform precision repairs and fabrication of parts and components.
• Use appropriate electrical test equipment to troubleshoot and repair circuits, motors, relays, starters, controls, and related systems.
• Fabricate, weld, and build steel tables, brackets, extensions, oilers, safety gates, and other structures to support or enhance machinery.
• Determine whether in-house repairs are feasible or if external service technicians are required, and coordinate those services when needed.
• Analyze and diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic systems using schematics, and physically trace circuits when documentation is not available.
• Plan, lay out, and install electrical circuits and distribution equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Fabricate, install, and repair electrical systems on production equipment using drawings and schematics.
• Locate causes of machine malfunctions, dismantle equipment as needed, replace worn or broken electrical and mechanical parts, and reassemble and test machines.
• Repair, maintain, and assemble safety guards, motors, relays, starters, lighting, ejection, feeding, pumping, and other machine attachments.
• Move and position heavy equipment and machinery within the plant using appropriate tools and methods.
• Take proactive responsibility for safety and housekeeping by identifying, correcting, or promptly reporting any safety discrepancies.
• Perform required electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Take initiative to respond to discrepancies, coordinate with engineering for problem resolution, and contact vendors for technical assistance and parts availability.
• Prepare and manage purchase requisitions, PTOs, and other documentation related to maintenance activities and parts procurement.
• Rebuild hydraulic valves, cylinders, and pumps to restore proper operation.
• Install and run appropriate plumbing (water and air) and electrical services to new or relocated equipment based on production needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and ensure proper use and care of tools and equipment.

Essential Skills

• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills and outstanding analytical ability.
• Hands-on experience with industrial maintenance, including electrical troubleshooting, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to connect to PLCs, interpret ladder logic, and use controls knowledge to diagnose and resolve machine issues.
• Proficiency in using electrical test equipment to diagnose and repair circuits, motors, relays, starters, and control systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including the ability to read and interpret related schematics and physically trace circuits.
• Demonstrated ability to perform arc or gas welding, brazing, soldering, and related metalworking techniques.
• Ability to read hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical blueprints and schematics and apply them to installations and repairs.
• Experience planning, laying out, and installing electrical circuits and distribution equipment in accordance with applicable codes.
• Capability to operate machine shop equipment and perform precision repairs on bearings, shafts, gears, and other components.
• Ability to troubleshoot probable causes of machine malfunctions and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Ability to read and write English and perform simple arithmetic for documentation and measurements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment with heavy equipment and production machinery.
• Experience in preventive maintenance programs, including scheduling and completing regular inspections and service.
• Familiarity with cross-functional collaboration across maintenance, quality, engineering, automation, vendors, and suppliers.
• Experience moving and installing heavy machinery using appropriate material-handling equipment and methods.
• Comfort working in a loud, non-climate-controlled environment that may be partially outdoors and physically demanding.
• Strong documentation skills, including creating and managing purchase requisitions and other maintenance-related records.

Work Environment
This role is based in a non-climate-controlled, partially outdoor industrial facility that can be loud, dirty, and physically demanding. You will work around heavy industrial equipment and machinery, frequently handling tools, electrical test equipment, welding and fabrication equipment, and machine shop tools. The position typically follows a first-shift (approximately 6:00 am to 2:30pm) or second-shift schedule (approximately 2:30 pm to 10:00 pm), and you will be expected to maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping while working in and around production areas.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denison, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
