Database Administrator

Job Type: Contract (thru 6/30/27 with likelihood of extension) Job Location: Tallahassee, FL (On-Site) Overview We are seeking a senior DB2 on z/OS resource (DBA) to support a mission-critical mainframe database environment. This is a hands-on role for an expert who can own DB2 administration, performance, stability, and operational excellence in a structured enterprise setting. Required Experience You have 15+ years of professional experience supporting enterprise database environments. You have deep, recent, hands-on DB2 on IBM z/OS experience (this is mandatory). You can operate independently in a production environment with strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills. You have a track record of delivering reliable outcomes in high-accountability environments (availability, recoverability, performance). Key Responsibilities You will administer and support DB2 on z/OS databases in a production enterprise environment. You will handle core DBA functions including: Performance monitoring, tuning, and remediation Backup/recovery strategy execution and validation Capacity planning and growth management Security and access controls in alignment with standards Incident response, triage, and root-cause analysis Database maintenance, upgrades/patching coordination, and operational runbooks You will partner with application teams and infrastructure stakeholders to ensure database reliability and operational readiness. You will produce clear documentation and communicate status, risks, and recommendations effectively. Bonus / Nice-to-Have Skills (DB2 Strength Still Required) You have Oracle experience, including exposure to OCI. You have broader "multi-platform DBA" depth (e.g., strong SQL Server expertise). You have familiarity with data/integration ecosystems such as Informatica and/or Snowflake (helpful, not required).
