Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
The Material Handler plays a key role in ensuring efficient delivery of materials to production lines and throughout the warehouse. This position focuses on safely moving, inspecting, and organizing materials, supporting manufacturing orders, inventory accuracy, and overall warehouse operations within a manufacturing assembly environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver materials to production lines and designated warehouse areas in a timely and accurate manner.
Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves using forklifts and other appropriate equipment.
Locate, stock, and rotate received materials according to receipt date and established warehouse procedures.
Lift heavy objects by hand or with appropriate lifting aid devices while following safety guidelines.
Organize and clean the work environment, maintaining a safe and orderly warehouse area.
Work under the guidance of warehouse staff on continuous improvement projects within the warehouse.
Collaborate with experienced material handlers to learn and apply best practices in material handling and inventory management.
Label and tag items properly to ensure accurate identification and traceability.
Provide input and suggestions to help resolve obstacles that hinder work efficiency and material flow.
Maintain accurate inventory records in accordance with warehouse procedures.
Assist in maintaining Planning and Production Reports, focusing on fulfilling manufacturing order shortages.
Assist in maintaining and fulfilling Engineering Change Orders as they relate to materials and inventory.
Follow oral instructions and work schedules to determine which materials or containers need to be moved to fulfill manufacturing orders.
Assist in performing daily cycle counts in the stock count module and create and conduct cycle counts when issues arise with production or other departments.
Assist in posting transactions related to inventory, including transfers, adjustments, and variances, with a basic understanding of rejection tags, site views, and quantity-on-hand balances.
Pull jobs and assist with receiving and shipping tasks as needed, following established warehouse procedures.
Participate in and help complete the yearly physical inventory.
Use RF scanners and related warehouse technology to track, pick, and record inventory and production activities.
Support general production, picking, and assembly tasks when required to maintain workflow.
Essential Skills
Previous forklift certification, with the ability to maintain or renew certification as required.
Ability to operate forklifts and electrical-powered devices used for moving materials safely and efficiently.
Experience with loading and unloading materials in a warehouse or production environment.
Basic inspection skills to verify materials and products meet required standards.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or related documentation as needed for material handling.
Proficiency using hand tools and tape measures for basic material and equipment handling tasks.
Experience in warehouse operations, including picking, inventory handling, and general production support.
Ability to use RF scanners for inventory tracking and production activities.
Capacity to lift heavy objects safely, using proper lifting techniques and assistive devices when needed.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in labeling, tagging, and maintaining inventory records.
Ability to follow oral instructions, work schedules, and established procedures to fulfill manufacturing orders.
Basic understanding of inventory transactions, including transfers, adjustments, variances, and rejection tags.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a manufacturing assembly or production environment.
Experience in warehouse continuous improvement initiatives or process optimization.
Familiarity with Planning and Production Reports and Manufacturing Orders.
Experience supporting Engineering Change Orders from a materials and inventory perspective.
Comfort working under the guidance of lead warehouse and material handling staff.
Ability to assist with yearly physical inventory and daily cycle counts.
Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and efficient work area.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing assembly and warehouse setting focused on production support and material handling. You will work with forklifts, electrical-powered material handling equipment, RF scanners, hand tools, tape measures, and standard warehouse racking and storage systems. The environment involves loading and unloading materials, general production support, picking, inventory management, and assembly-related tasks. Shifts typically include 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with additional schedules such as 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, depending on operational needs. The work requires adherence to safety procedures, proper use of lifting aids, and maintaining a clean, organized warehouse and production area.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
