POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Rental Supervisor, assists in the managing of short-term rental equipment, rents equipment in the Hawthorne Rent It Service rental fleet, and compiles information for reporting purposes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Quotes customer daily, weekly and monthly rental rates and rents equipment.
2. Explains terms and conditions of the rental to the customer.
3. Prepares rental agreement, insurance form, invoicing and all required documents to consummate the transaction.
4. Arranges the delivery and/or pickup of equipment with the shop or contract haulers.
5. Keeps track of all equipment out on rent and in the rental fleet.
6. Logs daily activity. When equipment is not returned by specified date, customer is contacted and billed for additional days.
7. Responsible for collection of payment when customer is a "cash" customer.
8. Returns equipment, issues credit and handles additional billing as needed.
9. Upon return of equipment, checks for damage and coordinates with service for fueling, repairs, etc.
10. With the approval by the Rental Supervisor, advises and bills the customer for the cost of repair for machine damage.
11. Gathers and compiles rental activity information and prepares and distributes equipment utilization report monthly.
12. Recommends models of equipment to be added or removed from the rental fleet.
13. Serves customers in a courteous and diplomatic manner.
14. Maintains a good working relationship with customers and other employees.
15. Maintains good communications with all contacts.
16. Ensures that messages receive prompt attention and sufficient information is provided to all callers in a courteous manner.
17. Keeps equipment records both manually and electronically (computer generated) and maintains their accuracy in a timely manner.
18. Keeps respective managers informed on all matters of managerial importance.
19. Possesses strong knowledge of Hawthorne Rent It Service (HRIS)equipment.
20. Understands and complies with HRIS credit policies.
21. Submits lost rental reports on a timely basis.
22. Acts as Administrator of Home Depot and other major account contracts.
23. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Must have 2 years general office or retail experience
3. Must have 2 years of customer service experience.
4. Experience in Rental Equipment or Construction industry preferred.
5. Ability to work well under pressure or with changing priorities.
6. PC skills required, familiar with AS400 a plus.
7. Must have a valid CA Class C License and a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Walking and moving about on foot often up and down stairs.
2. Handling: Works with hands.
3. Lifting: May lift up to 30 lbs.
4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
6. Standing: Remains in standing position, if required to perform various functions of the job.
7. Vision: Reads paperwork, files and records on the computer.
8. Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person.
9. Sitting: Sits at desk. Sits for long periods of time.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment.
