Manufacturing Engineer

Apollo Technical

Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer to support our client, a premier leader in marine manufacturing and custom boatbuilding, at their facility in Edgewater, FL, for an immediate contract position running through Christmas .

Position Overview

In this hands-on, floor-oriented role, you will work directly on the active production floor alongside senior engineering leadership to optimize assembly operations, plant workflows, and material movement. As a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer, your focus is entirely on the "stuff"-executing classic Industrial Engineering (IE) techniques in a human-centric, craft-driven environment where traditional robotics do not exist. You will leverage basic AutoCAD software to optimize warehouse layouts, design efficient material transport paths, and perform time studies to achieve optimal work balancing across custom boat assembly lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shop-Floor Assembly Support: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with senior engineering leaders and assembly technicians to resolve production bottlenecks and streamline manual assembly processes.
  • Layout & Warehouse Optimization: Utilize AutoCAD to map out, modify, and optimize warehouse layouts, material staging zones, and floor transport paths to minimize transit waste.
  • Work Balancing & Time Studies: Conduct hands-on line studies, time studies, and labor-balancing exercises tailored specifically to non-automated, people-focused manufacturing environments.
  • Blueprint & Technical Review: Interpret detailed manufacturing prints, process specs, and engineering drawings to establish standard operating procedures on the floor.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Build strong working relationships with shop-floor assembly workers, using clear "shop talk" to gather process feedback and implement practical line changes.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 5-8 years of practical manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering experience within an active production or assembly environment.
  • AutoCAD Command: Hands-on proficiency using basic AutoCAD to create, modify, and optimize floor layouts and pathing diagrams.
  • Industrial Engineering Core: Direct background or practical experience performing time studies, line balancing, and floor layout optimizations.
  • Floor Communication: Exceptional floor-level interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with assembly line workers and senior engineering staff.
  • Technical Blueprint Literacy: Proven ability to read, interpret, and work directly from complex manufacturing prints and assembly drawings.
Highly Desirable "Nice to Haves"
  • Experience in Warehouse Management, Material Flow, or Staging Layouts .
  • Background in custom, labor-intensive assembly industries such as Marine/Boatbuilding, Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, or Automotive .
  • Exposure to fiberglass or composite manufacturing processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile

Our "Green Flag" candidate is an energetic, floor-first engineer who thrives in a craft-based, non-automated manufacturing setup. We are looking for someone with the practical "grit" to collaborate with senior mentors, step onto the floor with a stopwatch and a notepad, and use basic AutoCAD to design smarter, safer, and faster floor paths for assembly technicians.

Additional Information
  • Location: Edgewater, FL (100% On-Site / Floor-Oriented)
  • Employment Type: Contract (Immediate start running through Christmas).
  • Work Environment: People-focused, non-automated craft manufacturing (no heavy robotics).
