Senior Maintenance Planning Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ Salary: $95,000.00 USD Annually - $125,000.00 USD Annually Description:
Hybrid (2-3 days/week onsite)

About the Role

As a Maintenance Planning & Reliability Engineer, you will bridge enterprise asset reliability strategies with field-level maintenance execution. You will transform approved maintenance strategies and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) findings into standardized maintenance plans, job plans, preventive maintenance programs, and CMMS configurations. This role is responsible for ensuring consistency, reliability, and long-term asset performance across a multi-site operation while maintaining alignment with enterprise asset management standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant engineering or maintenance experience; OR
• Master's degree in Engineering or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience building and configuring maintenance plans, task lists, preventive maintenance (PM) programs, work orders, and equipment master data within SAP PM, SAP S/4HANA EAM, IBM Maximo, or a comparable CMMS/ERP platform.
• Experience translating FMEA findings into practical, field-executable maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and condition-based maintenance methodologies.
• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to create clear work instructions for maintenance and trades personnel.
• Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of safety practices, occupational hazards, and maintenance compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing enterprise maintenance programs.
• Experience with PCR planning and equipment lifecycle management.
• Corporate or multi-site maintenance planning experience.
• Participation in RCM workshops or FMEA facilitation activities.
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification or similar reliability credential.
• SAP PM Super User certification and/or Maximo system administration experience.
• Experience with maintenance standards libraries, document control, and version management.
• Knowledge of condition monitoring technologies including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis.
• Strong leadership, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Convert approved maintenance strategies and FMEA outputs into standardized maintenance job plans, task lists, and PM programs within SAP S/4HANA EAM and APM environments.
• Develop maintenance procedures that incorporate labor requirements, tools, materials, inspection criteria, OEM recommendations, and safety requirements.
• Maintain CMMS asset hierarchies, including equipment master data, functional locations, and asset structures.
• Configure and optimize preventive maintenance schedules, call horizons, cycle frequencies, and maintenance strategies.
• Ensure Bills of Material (BOMs) are accurately integrated into work orders to support planning, procurement, kitting, and inventory management.
• Deploy enterprise maintenance standards across multiple facilities while managing version control, compliance documentation, and implementation tracking.
• Conduct audits of active maintenance plans to ensure compliance with approved reliability strategies and OEM standards.
• Continuously improve maintenance content using operational feedback, equipment performance data, and updated FMEA analyses.
• Support commissioning activities and maintenance readiness for new equipment installations.
• Partner closely with Reliability Engineering, Site Maintenance Planning, Supply Chain, Procurement, and OEM stakeholders to drive maintenance excellence.
• Prioritize maintenance plan updates following significant equipment failures and operational learnings.
