Director of Wellness and Mental Health Services SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES The Director of Wellness and Mental Health Services provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for the university's holistic wellness, counseling, and mental health initiatives. This role leads the development and delivery of programs, services, and policies that promote student wellbeing, emotional resilience, and a healthy campus environment. The Director supervises student employees, collaborates with campus partners, and ensures highquality, culturally responsive, and ethically sound mental health services for all students. - Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive wellness and mental health strategy reflective of Schreiner's values, community culture, and student needs.
- Integrate a holistic approach to student wellbeing addressing academic stressors, student life stressors, emotional wellness, physical well-being, and community engagement.
- Lead efforts to create a proactive approach to student wellness and mental health support including education of resources, university communications, and programming.
- Serve as a senior subjectmatter expert on student mental health, crisis response, and wellness best practices.
- Manage counseling providers, student leaders, and student work-study positions.
- Monitor and manage third-party counseling providers and platforms used by the university that provide support services to students.
- Ensure all services reflect evidence-based practice, ethical standards, and culturally inclusive care including individual, group, and crisis intervention.
- Maintain standards of care that meet legal, ethical, and accreditation requirements.
- Help to implement, enforce, and maintain policies, documentation practices, and protocols.
- Serve as a key member of the university crisis response and student behavioral intervention teams.
- Provide leadership during student mental health crises, including coordinating care and recommending campus communication protocols working with Assistant Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs.
- Guide early- and post-intervention practices and strategies that maintain Schreiner's supportive and safe campus environment.
- Oversee departmental budget, staffing, and resources.
- Monitor student wellness trends, produce reports, and recommend improvements to campus leadership.
- Track and analyze trends in student mental health and wellness to inform strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, Cleary Act as applicable).
- Oversee development and delivery of campus wide wellness programming on stress management, sleep health, alcohol and other drug education, resilience, etc., and other healthy lifestyle practices.
- Integrate wellness programming into Schreiner's community engagement initiatives and programs such as living-learning communities, student organizations, athletics, and academic organizations.
- Chair the Alcohol and Other Drug Committee and complete required reporting guidelines
- Partner and work closely with Student Affairs, Academic Support, Athletics, Academic Affairs, Campus Ministry, Campus Safety, and other partners.
- Support and train faculty and staff in supporting student well-being in academic and co-curricular activities and settings.
- Represent the university with local health providers, regional and national networks related to wellness and mental health.
- Work collaboratively utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in mental health or wellness services.
- Demonstrated experience supervising professional staff.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in student wellbeing, mental health, crisis intervention, and wellness education.
- Independent clinical licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist, etc.) preferred.
- Experience working in a small college or university campus preferred.
- Training in traumainformed approaches, risk assessment, and crisis response.
- Experience with case management systems and datadriven program evaluation
