Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Position open to remote: No Grade: TCML Compensation Range: $34.27 - $36.85 Position Functions Make certain all technicians under their lead are working safely, effectively, and efficiently. Diagnose and repair transmission, engine, electrical, suspension, driveline, HVAC, brakes, and air systems on tractors and trailers. Travel to various remote sites to accomplish field repairs on equipment that is broken down, where relocating them to the main shop would be counterproductive. Perform all repairs in various weather conditions and site environments safely and efficiently. Perform light trailer body repairs including doors, tires, lighting system, etc. Maintain services for the company’s fleet of vehicles. Maintain shop equipment and service truck as per company guidelines. Evaluate safety concerns and make necessary adjustments to ensure safety during travel, and any duties performed while onsite at the various locations is always to the highest standard. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair of assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications. Efficiently account for paid time on work orders and document various steps taken throughout the repair process to ensure maximum warranty recovery and historical data for potential future information. Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or better than SRT times. Ability to source needed parts when necessary and communicate with Parts Supervisor of domiciled terminal for proper payment to vendor. Maintain parts inventory integrity, warranty, core parts and parts usage tracking from cradle to grave. Carry, monitor, and answer company-issued cellphones, text, emails, and any other form of expected communications with accounts and management staff. Focused on excellent customer service, and resolution oriented. May perform other duties as assigned. What We’re Looking For Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience 7+ years of experience working on trailers required. 7+ years of experience working on tractors required. Technical diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of required experience. Skills & Abilities Team building skills. Must be consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving mechanical problems. Excellent communication skills. Personable skills (attention to details, dependability, integrity, independence, analytical thinking, initiative). Advanced welding skills required. Basic computer skills preferred. Ability to read and write required. Must provide own hand tools adequate to perform job functions. Licenses & Certifications DOT and Brake Certifications required. Valid driver’s license required. Meritor/Bendix and tandem assembly certification preferred. Supervisory Responsibility Act as a mentor and point of contact for the customer and lower-level technicians; report out to Shop Manager at a satellite Terminal. Work Environment Will work in infrequent temperature and humidity extremes up to 100% of workday (this includes working outside/inside). Candidates for this role should be able to stand or walk for long periods of time, extensively work with their hands, and communicate verbally with their teammates. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods of time supporting full body weight. Ability to walk 1000 feet minimum and change positions frequently. Ability to frequently move shoulders with full range of motion in all six planes of movement. Ability to reach heights over 72” frequently; ability to crouch to height of 18” frequently. Ability to reach and stretch across the midline with full cervical range of motion and bilateral range of motion. Ability to use hand tools constantly for extended periods of time. Ability to stoop to 30” minimum and kneel to 18” minimum. Ability to frequently climb 5.1” with one 2.4” step and pull full body weight. Ability to frequently climb stairs 2.4” without a hand hold rail. Ability to pull self up ladder with 4x1.7” steps with upper body pull. Ability to constantly go in/out of truck on 5.1” and one 2.4” step pulling full body weight. Ability to frequently go up and down ramp. Ability to occasionally push 250 lbs, pull 125 lbs, frequently push/pull 100/50 lbs and constantly push/pull 50/25 lbs. Ability to occasionally carry, lift overhead, high, low and medium lift 51/75 lbs, frequently 50/21 lbs and constantly 20/1 lbs.
