Brief Overview The Anesthesia Technician provides support services to anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the preparation, care, maintenance, and availability of anesthesia supplies and equipment. The role participates in operating room (OR) turnover and performs activities as directed to ensure efficiency and safe patient care. Responsibilities Set up and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies for surgical procedures using sterile technique. Perform equipment calibration and checks; set up special equipment based on patient needs. Perform daily care and routine maintenance of anesthesia‑related equipment. Inspect for damage or safety hazards, and report equipment for repair. Verify performance of airway and monitoring equipment for readiness. Document testing of equipment and instruments as required for compliance. Manage inventory, order, and stock anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure availability. Maintain a sterile field and apply aseptic techniques. Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and policies. Perform other job functions as assigned or requested. Education & Training Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Preferred: Technical Degree or Diploma in relevant fields; Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT); Anesthesia Technology; Nursing; Surgical Technology. Work Experience Required: 1‑3 years in a health care related field. Preferred: 1‑3 years as an Anesthesia Technician. Licenses & Certifications Required: Basic Life Support – American Heart Association. Preferred: Certified Anesthesia Technician – American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of OR supplies and anesthesia equipment. Ability to set up, calibrate, and operate anesthesia equipment. Competency in infection control, aseptic technique, and safety standards. Strong communication skills with co‑workers, physicians, and external staff. Ability to organize tasks and maintain workflow. Supervision No supervisory or lead responsibilities are assigned to this position. Physical Demands Ability to climb, push, stand, walk, reach, grasp, kneel, stoop, and perform repetitive motions. Capability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently. Requires good visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision.
