Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 12 weeks Shift: 12H Days Varied Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 or more years of experience. Need to have worked in a facility with similar patient volume, trauma level, and size. Must be comfortable with central line placement, massive transfusion protocol, chest tubes, trauma, STEMIs, strokes, etc. Description: Candidates may not have been previously employed by the facility within the past year. Candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered. RN must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam with an 83% before signing the contract. They will be given three attempts to pass. Call outs are strongly discouraged and could lead to termination. Position will float between two campuses. Trauma Level: III. Primary Stroke Center with comprehensive capabilities. 30 beds with 2 trauma bays. Average of 135 patients treated daily. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary depending on acuity. General acute care beds ratio is 1:3-4. Level I traumas have a ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 depending on acuity. Vertical care has a ratio of 1:6-8. Security is present in-house 24/7. ED nurses will care for intermixed ER holds. Typical patients include those with nausea, vomiting, chest pain, fever, and respiratory symptoms. 10-15% of patients are pediatric. Common diagnoses include altered mental status and trauma cases. Common drips include diltiazem, Cardene, nitroglycerin, propofol, fentanyl, and Levophed. The facility has a shared governance structure, promoting a good culture and team environment. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Holiday requirements will rotate with core staff. Floating requirements may include helping hands without assignments. The dress code requires navy scrubs and undershirts. Scrub jackets are optional. RNs are expected to monitor their own telemetry. Registered Nurses must perform their own readings of telemetry strips. Transport for both X-Ray and CT is available within the department.
