About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified IMC RN in Shreveport, Louisiana, 71101!

• Provide direct patient care on a 12-bed IMC/Stepdown unit with a patient population that includes CVA/TIA requiring TPA administration and post-spinal surgical patients (ACDF, Laminectomy)
• Manage stepdown overflow patients including those with AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, and post-heart catheterization
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and critical drips including Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed
• Perform continuous telemetry monitoring via bedside cardiac monitors connected to a central nursing station; responsible for printing rhythm strips each shift
• Document patient care using Meditech Expanse EMR; administer medications via Pyxis and manage IV therapy using Alaris pumps
• Pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in acute care; first-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care
• Travelers who were previously permanent staff at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• Experience with titratable drips (Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed) required; candidates without this experience require manager approval prior to submission

• Experience with chest tube management and tracheostomy care
• Familiarity with Peritoneal Dialysis, ISTAT, and CSF (lumbar) drains
• Prior experience with Meditech Expanse EMR

• Traveler-friendly unit culture with robust on-unit support including in-house phlebotomy, Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalist coverage, IV/VAT team, and therapy services (OT, PT, ST)
