Senior Construction Manager

Residential Landscape Design/Build Sequence has been exclusively retained to recruit a Senior Construction Manager for one of the region's premier residential landscape design/build organizations. This represents an outstanding opportunity for an experienced construction leader who enjoys overseeing complex outdoor construction projects, developing high-performing field teams, and delivering exceptional craftsmanship across distinctive residential environments. Reporting to senior operational leadership, the Construction Manager, slated to be based in the organization’s Arlington, Virginia operation supporting projects throughout the Washington, DC Metro region, will oversee the successful execution of multiple landscape construction projects while coordinating field personnel, subcontractors, equipment, schedules, materials, and client communication. This hybrid leadership role combines office-based planning and coordination with significant time in the field, providing hands‑on leadership across active construction projects while partnering closely with operations, estimating, and executive leadership. The successful individual will serve as the operational leader in the field, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to exceptionally high-quality standards. Position Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight for day‑to‑day construction operations across multiple residential landscape projects. Direct field personnel, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment resources to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably. Coordinate project schedules, manpower planning, equipment deployment, material procurement, and subcontractor activities. Review construction plans, specifications, and project documentation to ensure successful field execution. Monitor project quality, production, labor utilization, budgets, and overall project performance. Identify operational challenges early while implementing practical solutions that maintain project momentum. Partner closely with estimating, design, project management, and executive leadership throughout each phase of project delivery. Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding project progress, scheduling, and field activities. Foster accountability for safety, craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. Mentor and develop foremen and field personnel while supporting workforce planning and long-term team development. Participate in project forecasting, operational planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and process development. Areas of Project Responsibility The Construction Manager may oversee projects involving: High‑End Residential Landscape Construction Design/Build Project Execution Hardscape Construction Masonry and Stone Installation Grading and Site Preparation Drainage Systems Water Features Specialty Site Improvements Equipment and Fleet Coordination Jobsite Safety and Quality Assurance The Ideal Candidate The ideal individual will be an experienced construction leader with a background in landscape construction or related project‑based construction environments. Individuals from civil construction, site development, specialty contracting, parks, golf course construction, utilities, or similar industries with transferable experience are also encouraged to explore the opportunity. 5 to 10+ years of progressive construction or field operations leadership experience. Strong background leading multiple crews, subcontractors, and concurrent construction projects. Experience within landscape construction, civil construction, site development, specialty contracting, or related project‑based operations. Working knowledge of grading, drainage, irrigation, hardscape construction, planting, lighting, and general site development practices. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation. Strong operational planning, scheduling, manpower management, and resource allocation skills. Demonstrated success delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to exceptionally high quality standards.
