About the Position

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist - Computed Tomography Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 6p-6a Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and have an advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or be registry-eligible Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - ARRT (CT) - BLS - Patient Preparation - Clinical Data Review Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patients for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination. Obtains additional information about the patient’s medical history as necessary. Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patient for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care to the patient if a reaction should occur. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure to be performed. Ensures the adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection. May involve shielding of patients, selection of appropriate equipment settings for dose reduction, using other ALARA techniques, etc. Resolves any and all image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the PACS. Completes all study indexing including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms as necessary clinical protocols before performing study. Demonstrates on a consistent basis team member standards of excellence including communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity. Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary, as well as within the radiology information system to support all clinical and billing functions. May work in the hospital with a fixed unit or in an ambulatory Mobile Unit. May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs.
