About the Role

We are seeking a Child & Play Therapist who wants to build their practice exclusively around working with children ages 12 and under. Voyage serves children beginning at age 3, and this position will maintain a dedicated caseload of children ages 3–12, with caregiver involvement as an essential part of treatment.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young children and sees this population as their professional focus. The ideal candidate brings warmth, patience, creativity, and an understanding of how children use play to communicate, process experiences, and develop emotional skills.

Both associate-level and independently licensed clinicians are welcome. Applicants must either hold the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential or be actively working toward earning it. Current RPT credential holders are preferred.

What You’ll Do

• Provide individual therapy to children ages 3–12 using play therapy and other developmentally appropriate interventions within your training and scope of practice.
• Complete clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans with meaningful, measurable goals.
• Support children experiencing anxiety, grief, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, school challenges, relationship concerns, and family transitions.
• Build trusting therapeutic relationships while respecting each child’s identity, communication style, developmental needs, and pace.
• Partner with parents and caregivers through consultation, education, and family sessions when clinically appropriate.
• Help caregivers understand their child’s needs and practice supportive strategies between sessions.
• Adapt treatment to accommodate sensory needs, neurodivergence, cultural backgrounds, and different family structures.
• Coordinate with schools, healthcare providers, and other professionals when appropriate and authorized.
• Maintain timely, accurate assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required clinical records.
• Assess safety concerns and follow applicable confidentiality, consent, reporting, and professional requirements.
• Participate in team consultation, weekly staffing, and supervision as applicable.
• Maintain an organized, welcoming therapy space and care for shared play materials.
• Support continuity of care through consistent scheduling, appropriate follow-up, and thoughtful discharge planning.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a related clinical field.
• Active Indiana mental health license appropriate to the role. Associate-level clinicians must practice with appropriate supervision.
• Current Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential or active progress toward earning it , including relevant training and a plan for completing required supervised experience.
• A clear desire to maintain a caseload exclusively serving children ages 12 and under.
• Clinical experience working with young children, which may include supervised graduate training.
• Understanding of child development, therapeutic uses of play, caregiver relationships, and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to involve caregivers while maintaining appropriate boundaries and supporting the child’s therapeutic needs.
• Commitment to affirming, culturally responsive care.
• Strong communication, documentation, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Openness to feedback, continued learning, and communicating when support is needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential.
• Experience providing play therapy to preschool and elementary-age children.
• Experience supporting neurodivergent children and their caregivers.
• Additional training in child-focused trauma treatment, caregiver coaching, or family interventions.

Schedule and Practice Expectations

Scheduling will be established collaboratively, with availability that accommodates children and families, including some after-school appointments.

Direct-service expectations are 24 hours per week for full-time clinicians and 15 hours per week for part-time clinicians. Team members also participate in weekly staffing and complete required documentation, care coordination, and other clinical responsibilities.
