Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital Operating Room position requiring BLS certification and ORT program completion or equivalent scrub tech experience.

Hospital Operating Room setting
Day shift, 5x8, 40 hours per week
Days with call required
Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, OR graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past 6 months, OR 2 years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last 3 years
1 year of experience in the specialty being submitted for is required
BLS certification required (AHA, must not expire prior to start)
License required if applicable
Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist credential preferred
Ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety
Ability to recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes
Experience in sterilization processes and requirements
Experience responding to emergency situations during surgical procedures

Additional Information

Function as a member of the surgical team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, reporting to Surgical Services management
Maintain accountability for sterilization criteria for the operating room and all surgical items
Prepare the operating room and instruments for surgical procedures
Assist surgeons during procedures while remaining within ORT scope of practice
Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure
Participate in the surgical operations safety plan and support system-wide surgical initiatives
Returning staff must be separated from any Intermountain facility for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
