(This is a fully on-site role Monday-Friday, typical business hours)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Leadership: Collaborate with department heads to understand hiring needs and maintain current, accurate job descriptions for every role.
  • Source & Screen Talent: Source and attract candidates through a variety of channels, screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
  • Build the Pipeline: Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for critical roles and anticipated future hiring needs.
  • Employer Branding: Collaborate closely with the marketing team (internal or outsourced) to shape and maintain our social media and online employer brand, and act as overflow support for content, posting, and campaign needs as required.
  • Vet Every Hire: Conduct reference checks, verify qualifications, and oversee pre-employment requirements such as drug screens, background checks, and DMV checks.
  • Ensure Smooth Onboarding: Partner with HR to ensure a smooth onboarding experience and perform new hire orientation covering the Handbook, Safety, Training, and Benefits.
  • Drive Retention: Implement employee engagement programs and develop initiatives to retain skilled workers, including mentorship, clear progression paths, and training opportunities.
  • Lead the Annual Review Process: Manage the annual employee performance review process from start to finish, ensuring timely, consistent, and meaningful feedback that supports growth and retention.
  • Track & Analyze: Monitor employee turnover rates, conduct exit interviews and surveys, and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Champion Our Brand: Promote a positive employer brand by showcasing company culture, values, and success stories, and build relationships with trade schools, professional organizations, and community partners to increase visibility and access to talent.
  • Be Our Face in the Community: Lead and organize our presence at community events, college career fairs, and job fairs, serving as the primary face of Crookham Construction to prospective talent.
  • Report & Ensure Compliance: Maintain accurate recruiting records, prepare regular reports on time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and retention statistics, and ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policy throughout hiring.
  • Support Performance Management: Design and oversee the performance review process, support the creation and tracking of individual development plans, and help managers address performance issues and create improvement plans.
  • Lead Employer-Branded Events: Plan and lead company and community-facing events that showcase our brand, such as charity golf tournaments, the Christmas party, and team socials.
  • Market & Engage: Maintain company marketing materials, ensure a consistent company presence on social media, and produce the monthly company newsletter.
  • Manage Key Programs: Manage the employee referral program, ensure OSHA-10 certification documentation is current and available for spot checks, and market the 401k and other employee benefits to new hires and existing employees.
  • Know the Market: Stay current on market and competitor pay scales and benefits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or HR generalist work, ideally within construction or a related industry.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices in hiring and retention.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at every level of the organization.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple open positions and priorities at once.
  • Ability to analyze recruiting and retention data to make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • A natural relationship-builder who is energized by public speaking, networking, and leading events, and who is comfortable being the face of the company at job fairs, career fairs, and community functions.
  •

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision)
  • Retirement savings plan (401k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Opportunities for career growth and advancement
