• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts, with weekday day coverage generally scheduled 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., weekday evening/night coverage 4:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m., weekend day coverage 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., and weekend night coverage 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. Twenty-four-hour shifts may also be available
• Schedule Emphasis: Primarily evening, night, and weekend coverage; occasional day shifts may be available
• Orientation: Three weekday day shifts, two evening/night shifts, and two weekend shifts, including clinical shadowing and system orientation

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license appropriate for practice in Pennsylvania
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner; board certification or appropriate specialty certification is required
• At least 1 year of advanced practice experience in neonatology or a comparable high-acuity neonatal setting
• Clinical proficiency with PICC, UVC, and UAC line placement or management, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, and intubations
• Current BLS and PALS certifications
• Ability to provide neonatal ground and air transport coverage
• Willingness to complete required transport education, including online coursework and in-person training
• Ability to complete required electronic medical record training before the first clinical shift
• Availability for block scheduling and at least 6 shifts per month, including evening, night, and weekend coverage

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive daily care for critically ill neonates in a high-acuity Level IV NICU
• Work collaboratively with neonatologists, physicians, and APP colleagues while overseeing the daily care of assigned patients
• Perform and manage advanced neonatal procedures, including PICC, UVC, and UAC lines, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, and intubations
• Evaluate patients, develop and implement treatment plans, and monitor clinical progress
• Participate in neonatal ground and air transports following completion of required training
• Manage an average of approximately 10 patient encounters per shift
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
• Support safe, coordinated care across day, evening, night, weekend, and extended shifts
