Real Estate Portfolio Counsel
$175k - $250kSolomon Page
Our client, a well-capitalized real estate investment firm based in South Florida, wishes to add an attorney to its established, lean legal team. This is an opportunity to work at a sophisticated real estate investment platform with a long-term investment approach, partnering directly with asset managers and business leaders on the legal issues that arise throughout the ownership and operation of real estate investments. This newly created position will focus on post-closing real estate matters and ongoing portfolio operations, rather than leading acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, or financing transactions. The attorney will serve as a practical, business-oriented legal resource to asset managers on a broad range of property-level matters, commercial agreements, and other issues that arise over the life of an investment. The work spans multiple asset classes and offers direct access to business stakeholders, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to help keep a diverse real estate portfolio operating effectively. Our firm is partnering directly with the client on this search, having successfully placed two attorneys with the business in recent years. We are pleased to be assisting the team again as it expands its legal resources.
- Estimated base salary range: $175,000–$250,000, plus potential cash bonus. Compensation is flexible based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage vendor agreements and other commercial contracts arising in connection with real estate portfolio operations;
- Partner directly with asset managers on post-closing legal matters, including easements, property management arrangements, and other ongoing property-level issues;
- Provide practical legal advice on contractual obligations, operational risks, and business matters arising throughout the ownership and management of real estate assets;
- Oversee real estate-related litigation matters, including coordinating with and managing outside litigation counsel;
- Support the resolution of legal and commercial issues that arise after transactions close; and
- Collaborate with asset management, operations, and other business teams to address day-to-day legal needs across a diversified real estate portfolio.
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and bar admission in good standing;
- At least two years of relevant legal experience involving real estate, commercial contracts, or related operational legal matters;
- Strong drafting, contract review, negotiation, and analytical skills;
- Sound commercial judgment, the ability to manage multiple matters, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach; and
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Attorneys currently practicing in-house or at law firms are encouraged to apply. Experience supporting real estate ownership, asset management, property operations, or commercial contracting is particularly relevant. Candidates from both large firms and smaller practices will be considered. Prior litigation experience is not required, and relocation will be considered for the right candidate.
If you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.
