Registered Nurse RN Pre Op PACU

Perianesthesia - Hospital Primary City/State: Mesa, Arizona Employment Type: Full-time; Shift Schedule: TBD; On Call: Yes (nights, weekends, and holidays on rotation). Weekend shift differential: $3/hr; Night shift differential: 18% when applicable. Position Summary This Registered Nurse (RN) position provides nursing care in the Pre‑Op PACU department at Banner Desert Medical Center, ensuring high-quality care for patients undergoing perioperative procedures. Core Functions Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical, diagnostics, laboratory data, and reports abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to policy. Formulates a plan of care, including discharge plan, using assessment data and input from patients, families, and health team. Initiates the plan, develops realistic measurable goals with patients/families, considers age‑specific and cultural needs, collaborates with multidisciplinary team, and revises the plan as patient needs change. Implements the plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of team activities. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan, complying with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Delegates appropriately and provides supervision to other licensed nurses and staff. Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revises the plan of care as needed. Assesses progress toward goals and expected outcomes collaboratively with the health team. Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely, and reflects objective/subjective data, interventions, and patient responses per policy. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting, and mentoring when appropriate. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes (timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe). Engages in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and may participate in professional organizations. In some roles, supervises staff and workflow of the department. Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to coordinate care, clarify information, and provide spiritual support with clergy as needed. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support the human response to changes in health status. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact). BLS certification required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and, if issued for a Home Health setting, must operate a personal vehicle and maintain active auto insurance. Must maintain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit if required by specific Banner settings. Experience: Minimum of one year in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. For positions requiring a home health component, must also meet those specific vehicle and driver requirements. Demonstrates clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area, as evidenced by annual validations. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
