Critical Care Technician

This position is responsible for providing continuity of nursing business operations, support functions, and direct patient care functions under the supervision of the appropriate provider or Registered Nurse. Under direct supervision this position is responsible for performing various technical procedures, providing or assisting in activities of daily living, as well as providing emotional support to Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients. The role involves accurately obtaining and documenting adult and pediatric vital signs, transporting equipment and patients, patient mobilization, activities of daily living, observing patients for safety precautions, clerical responsibilities, and assisting care team members with various patient care tasks, ordering, and stocking of supplies. Nature and Scope Within the scope established by Renown Health this position provides patient care related tasks to include personal hygiene, mobility, safety and comfort, assistance with activities of daily living, and various direct patient care skills to Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients as directed by the Unit Manager, Medical Director, Physician, Clinical Technician Expert, and/or the Registered Nurse. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of the uses of equipment specific to the area of employment and demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, quality outcomes, CPR, and safe handling of hazardous materials. The incumbent assists in procedures to facilitate proper documentation of patient care from pre‑admission to discharge. Patient Care will include (with demonstrated competency and/or training): BLS, ACLS, phlebotomy, peripheral IV access insertion, medication administration, and any skills within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population served and meet standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age‑specific competency standards. This position is challenged to maintain accuracy; communicate effectively with different types of people; function effectively under stress; and identify and maintain priorities while responding simultaneously to requests from various parties. The role also requires remaining courteous and tactful at all times while promoting an optimal patient experience and patient outcomes. Additionally, this position must assure proper decontamination of equipment and supplies in accordance with Renown Health policies. Minimum Qualifications Education: Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Medical terminology is preferred. Experience: Experience preferred. License(s): Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada and nationally registered EMT Advanced Certification through the National Registry of EMT upon hire. National Registered EMT Advanced Certification must be in active status within 90 days of hire. May hold a Paramedic EMT certification for up to 60 days while awaiting movement into an open Paramedic position. Certification(s): Obtain and maintain BLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. ACLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 6 months of hire. Completion of EKG monitor class within 6 months of hire. Computer / Typing: Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job‑specific competencies, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.
